ERICA Walkthrough For Studies For You Website
In Your ERICA Application
- Under Step 4: Study Information in (4.2.a) of your ERICA application, check the box that reads, “Posting on the University of Utah’s StudiesForYou website.”
- Once that box is selected, the StudiesForYou (SFY) smart forms will be populated.
- Please read the SFY instructions carefully and complete all fields in the SYF section. This is where you will describe what you would like displayed on your listing (lay study title, description, purpose of study, and so forth).
- Go through the categories and specialties.
- Complete the remainder of your IRB application and click submit.

Health Literacy Initiation Notice
- Once your study is cleared by the health literacy team, a notice will be sent to the ORPA translation team to translate your StudiesForYou listing into Spanish.
- You will also receive a notice from the health literacy team that a translation has been initiated on your behalf at no charge.

- Once the IRB finalizes and approves your study, your StudiesForYou listing will be posted to the English version of site.
- You will receive a notice once the StudiesForYou translation study summary is complete.

Posting the Spanish Version on SFY
To post your listing, your translation will need to be attached to your study via an amendment.
This can be done one of two ways:
- An expedited approval process at no charge (this applies only to attaching StudiesForYou Spanish translation).
- By attaching your StudiesForYou Spanish translation with any upcoming amendment.

Other Notable Items
- If you completed an application without electing your study to be displayed on StudiesForYou, please contact the IRB and they will provide you with the next steps.
- If you would like to remove your study from StudiesForYou, you will need to amend your study and deselect your selection (reference 4.2 in ERICA).
